Okay, I'm pretty sure I AM making more milk. If a baby eats 2.5 oz. per pound of body weight, Lola should be getting about 30 oz. a day. And she's been taking about 10 oz. of formula. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Tomorrow, I'm going to keep track of every feeding again and see how I'm doing. It's hard to remember, because some bottles she'll gulp down, and some she'll take a little and refuse the rest.
AND, I got a notice in the mailbox that my domperidone is at the post office. Woo! No more stressing about that.
Hey- out of love, why are you worrying about HOW much Lola is getting from your boob if she is happy, peeing and gaining weight? You'll never really know for sure and its hard to assume. Why don't you just keep track of all the times she comes on the breast and the length and happy or fussing AND NOT DO MATH AFTER? :o)
ReplyDeleteSo:
12 pm - 15 mins - happy
3 pm - 40 mins - fussing & fed 1 oz formula
etc AND NO MATH lol
And at her check up give this to the pediatrician to review? Why kill yourself and worry over doing math that may not even be right? Just accept that YOU are making more milk (because I know deep down YOU KNOW you are making milk)and stay on a happiness nursing high. She's happy = you happy.
I have NO IDEA how much my kids actually got from my breast. I see Dr. Sevilla and he told me: if they are happy, urinating and gaining weight don't sweat HOW MUCH they are actually getting.
You see- I asked and worried about Tessa AND Athena (Athena especially- she only nursed 3-4 times in 24 hours until she was weaned!)
Mostly, I've been wondering to see if the domperidone is really having an effect, and if so, how much of an effect. And also to see how close to a full milk supply I am, to see if it's an attainable goal. It's my light at the end of the tunnel. :)
ReplyDeleteOH OKAY! I gotcha :o) I was just thinking- ug all this math work just to make sure Lola is getting enough?! But now I see its for YOU- not her! LOL <3 Its good though! You're boobies are definitely making some milk and it is so awesome that you are doing this!
