Lola loves her milky mamas!

Nom, nom, nom!

Happy girl, full tummy!

Not only did Lola get to share some of her best baby buddy's milk today, but another mom brought her some pumped milk tonight at our Cafe La Leche meeting! We <3 our milk donors!

Cross-nursing, again!

At my daughter Lulu's birthday party last week, I got to experience something really cool; cross-nursing from the other side. We had a couple of babies over for the party, and the moms and babies were all sitting on the floor. Well, one little guy crawled up to me and started rooting around. After I got the "okay" from mom, he latched right on! It was awesome! I thought I'd never get to experience that in my life. He stared at me and smiled! It was incredible. Later, his mama topped off Lola, and I kept him "occupied." It was extra-special, because Lola hasn't cross-nursed in months. I thought she never would again, because last time we tried, she refused.
Criss-cross!

Excuse me, I think you have the wrong baby... :)

I love this one! Co-tandem-nursing!

A few days later, on Rio's birthday (and the milky mama's birthday!):

Lola kept kicking her feet excitedly and stopping to smile!

Another Milky Mama!

At baby-wearing group today:

Lola is such a lucky girl to have so many mommies willing to share their milk! (Two more mommies offered, but she wasn't in the mood.)
THANK YOU! :)

Cross-nursing Take Two

Lola and I went to a postpartum support group tonight, and she was being very fussy and didn't want to take a bottle. I knew Cheryl, a local doula, had cross-nursed other babies before, so I asked her to nurse Lola.
She said, "Yes."

She was content the rest of the night.

And one for the road. :)

Cross nursing.

Yesterday, at a walk to show support for midwives for the International Day of the Midwife, I asked a friend to do something some people might find... disturbing.
I asked her, a nursing mother, to nurse my baby.

And she, ever so generously, DID.

Lola got to experience what it feels like to nurse to satisfaction. And I didn't have a crying, hungry baby squalling at me on the long ride home.

"Hey, wait a minute... "

Now, if only I could afford to pay her to be a live-in wet nurse. :)
You can read my milk-sharing friend's blog here. :)

If you had milk supply problems, would you feed your baby donated milk? Would you let a friend or a wet-nurse feed your baby?
If you had more than enough milk, would you donate? Would you offer to nurse a friend's baby, if baby was hungry?
